- In relation to a previous post I made in this thread, what in the hell
- *should* AWeb support?!
- First off, Netscape HTML (NHTML) is NOT HTML 3.0. HTML 3.0 was a working
- draft of the World Wide Web Consortium, and it has now expired, so HTML 3.0 is
- no longer. NHTML is a de facto standard, defined only by what Netscape
- Navigator will accept as valid.
- As such, there's no way that Yvon Rozijn could precisely support NHTML,
- because it would take extensive testing of Navigator to find out what it
- accepts. Netscape has not to my knowledge published a DTD for NHTML, and if
- they have, they have not conformed to it. I suppose he can and will
- implement their extensions as documented, but there will still be problems
- with any browser which is not Navigator itself, because of all the Web designers
- writing their pages using only Navigator to view them.
- It would be pointless to support HTML 3.0, since that draft has expired,
- and the various parts of it may or may not be in the next accepted standard.
- So I ask again, what should AWeb support? I'd say HTML 2.0. Just by using
- AWeb, you can see the ugly results of not following the standard.
